Welcome!
I’m Mike Weisgram, and it is the honor of my lifetime to serve the people of Haakon, Hughes, Hyde, Stanley, and Sully Counties in the South Dakota House of Representatives. As a lifelong South Dakotan, former small business owner, and family man, I believe in the power of hard work, common sense, and local leadership. My mission in Pierre is simple:
to ensure our district remains a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and our unique way of life is protected.
A Record of Results
Since my election in 2020, I have focused on the issues that hit closest
to home. Having recently completed my sixth legislative session, I bring experience and leadership to the table as:
-
Chairman of the House Commerce and Energy Committee
-
Chair of the House Retirement Laws Committee
-
Member of the Taxation, Local Government, and Health & Human Services committees
My Priorities for South Dakota
-
Supporting Small Businesses: Drawing on my 37 years as a local business owner to foster economic growth.
-
Expanding Housing: Working to create more opportunities for families and workers to call District 24 home.
-
Protecting Local Control: Empowering our city and county governments to make the best decisions for their citizens.
-
Energy & Development: Ensuring our state remains a leader in energy production and economic innovation.
Rooted in Community
Before heading to the State House, I spent five years on the Fort Pierre City Council and served on numerous volunteer boards. I believe that true leadership starts with listening and ends with service.
Beyond the Capitol, my greatest joy is my family. I have been married to my wife, Judy, for 46 years. We are the proud parents of two grown daughters and the doting grandparents of six wonderful grandchildren.
As we look toward the June primary, I offer you my good judgment, my diligence, and my unwavering optimism. I promise to continue working hard for our district and the great state of South Dakota.
